Total Mercury

Total mercury analysis (HgT) is an analytical procedure that measures all forms of mercury as one lump sum. HgT can provide an overview of mercury content in a sample, without providing information about biologically available mercury in a sample. In many cases, especially exploratory research and in determining liability, HgT is less preferable to mercury speciation analysis.

Quicksilver Scientific offers full HgT support through three different methods. By having various methods, Quicksilver and our clients
gain flexibility to choose the procedure that makes the most sense
within the scope of the project.

Quicksilver Scientific takes proactive steps to prevent contamination. Quicksilver utilizes several methods for reagent purification, ensuring exceptional detection limits and quality control. Quicksilver Scientific prevents airborne contamination, utilizing Class 100 clean hoods for trace level sample preparation and having active gold filtration system in addition to continuous HEPA filtration of laboratory air. This results in compliance with EPA Methods 1631, 7473, 247.1, 247.2 and 247.5.
