Colorado Functional Forum – Fructose, A Biological Switch That Drives Obesity and Diabetes
April 20, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
$40.00Join our Colorado Functional Forum community for an evening of dining, socializing and education!
As our first Functional Forum of 2022, Quicksilver Scientific has the honor of hosting special guest Dr. Richard Johnson, a leader in obesity and diabetes research. Dr. Johnson has authored over 700 journal publications and 3 books. We will be discussing research from his most recent book, Nature Wants Us To Be Fat. We will be delving into the special role fructose plays in metabolic disease and the survival switch responsible for these outcomes. Dr. Johnson also discusses the uric acid paradox and it’s connection with fructose and what steps we can take towards increasing metabolic flexibility.
The research on uric acid and fructose has been rapidly growing in the last 10 years. Less, however, is known about the metabolic pathways that drive these connections. Dr. Richard Johnson, a professor of medicine in the department of nephrology at the University of Colorado, shares his research and insight on these specific mechanisms and the role they play in chronic disease.
In this lecture you will learn:
• The special role fructose plays in metabolic disease and the body’s “survival switch”
• The latest research from his most recent book, Nature Wants Us To Be Fat
• The uric acid paradox and its connection with fructose
• What steps you can take with your patients to achieve greater metabolic flexibility and health
